Sustainability is teamwork
Sustainability is more than climate protection. It is the responsible use of resources. But it is also long-term oriented corporate management as a family business and, what is even more important to us, the fair treatment of people. For us, sustainability is teamwork!
Materials
We work along the entire supply chain to make our textiles fairer and more environmentally sustainable. We rely on recycled polyester and organic cotton as more sustainable materials. We aim to increase the share of these materials every year.
Recycled Polyester
Polyester is the most important material for us as a team sports specialist. By using recycled polyester we can act more environmentally conscious and still ensure the positive properties. For this, we use old PET bottles, for example, which are cleaned, melted and spun into new yarn. For the World Jersey, we even use old textiles that we recycle. Organic cotton
In our JAKO FAIR products, we specifically use cotton from controlled organic cultivation. With organic cotton, the use of synthetic chemical pesticides and the use of genetically modified plants is prohibited. In recent years, we have been able to switch many of our cotton items to organic cotton. In the future, we want to continue to push the use of sustainable cotton. JAKO FAIR
The JAKO FAIR label indicates which products meet particularly high standards in terms of sustainability. For this purpose, we apply strict criteria regarding the selection of materials. With our JAKO FAIR label, you can see whether the materials of this article are made of 100% or at least 50% recycled raw materials or organic cotton. Environmental management
Together with our suppliers, we work on certifications that optimize environmental and chemical management. In the area of chemical management, we require our suppliers not to use hazardous substances that are banned under the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List. This enables us to ensure that all components, products and packaging are safe for health.Packaging
When it comes to our packaging, we make sure to reduce it where possible, to do without it or to use more environmentally friendly materials. For this purpose, we rely on polybags made of recycled polyester, cardboard banderoles or other alternatives. In addition, we replace individual packaging where possible and bundle our JAKO articles into larger quantity units.
Energy
We transport our goods on long distances by ship whenever we can and avoid air freight. In addition, together with DPD, we send your orders by climate-neutral parcel transport. With the photovoltaic system on our company building at the main location in Hollenbach, we produce about 75% of our electricity needs ourselves.WHAT'S BEHIND "OUR TEAM FOR A BETTER WORLD"

JAKO x Baron Filou donate proceeds of joint campaign
In October, JAKO and Baron Filou jointly released a limited edition collection that combined sporty design, sustainable materials and the fashion brand's famous bear. JAKO and Baron Filou rounded up the proceeds from the 89 sets, which consisted of sweats or hoodies including socks, to €10,000. This was donated jointly to the organization SOS Children's Village in Bangladesh.
Special jersey for Preußen Münster
JAKO and Preußen Münster set an example for tolerance, equality and diversity in society.
Preußen Münster wore a special jersey for its home game against SC Wiedenbrück on Saturday, December 3. The jersey is designed in rainbow colors and is intended to set an example for tolerance, equality and diversity in society. Values that are also of great importance to JAKO, because diversity makes every team strong.
More than just a jersey
With its future motto "Black-white-green is colorful!", the club wants to take responsibility for bringing the values of soccer back into focus. Thus, this motto is also integrated into the jersey and adorns the neck of the special jersey worn by the team on the pitch.

Shipping cartons suppliers
In order to protect natural resources, the supplier cartons in which the goods arrive at us are reused for shipping. This means that some of your orders will now be shipped in recycled packaging rather than new packaging. When these are used depends on the size of the order or the existing supplier cartons. To let you know why the carton may no longer look brand new, an extra label is applied to it. It says "This carton has been reused".
In line with our motto "Our Team for a better World", this measure saves raw materials and reduces packaging waste.

Packages Underwear
We are constantly reviewing our article packaging and, where possible, converting it to more environmentally friendly alternatives. In cooperation with our suppliers, we are working on projects to use resource-saving packaging. This year we were able to change the packaging of our underwear together with one of our long-term suppliers. We now use yarn spools on which the yarn for our textiles was originally spun. Through creative upcycling, the rolls could be reused and now serve as banderole for our longsleeves.
Turn old into new!
With our jersey WORLD we start into the circular economy of textiles. Used clothing is turned into a new jersey. One problem in the textile industry is that worn clothing is usually thrown away at the end of its life cycle. So even if a jersey is worn for several seasons or, in the best case, donated, it usually ends up in the trash at the end of its life cycle. We want to break this cycle.
The World jersey is the first jersey that is made from recycled textiles and not from recycled bottles. The cycle that closes is to be refined even further in the future. We no longer want to use just any textiles, but discarded JAKO jerseys. These will then be used to make new jerseys. The challenges are that, for example, the club crest or sponsor logo must also be recyclable.

Your jersey WORLD for a good cause
With our jersey WORLD, we not only want to act in a resource-saving way and use recycled textiles, but also fulfill our social responsibility. True to our motto "Our Team for a better World", we have decided to support the Duc Quang Shelter orphanage with part of the jersey proceeds.Currently, 120 children live there, from babies to teenagers under the age of 18. The financial donation will be used to provide the children with three meals a day, snacks and drinks.
The orphanage is located in the vicinity of a long-standing supplier in Vietnam, who coordinates local support. Together with him, we produce the WORLD jersey and the matching sports shorts.

One newly planted tree per jersey
As part of our "Our Team for a better World" campaign, VfB Stuttgart competed in a special sustainable jersey, the Trikot WORLD. For every special jersey sold, VfB donates five euros to Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V., which implements tree planting campaigns with its local partner Cranes Conservation Volunteers. With its contribution, VfB supports climate protection measures at the Setima Escarpment at Lake Ol'Bolossat in Kenya, a nature reserve with a special biological diversity. At the same time, the region is under high pressure from land use.Using an NFC chip integrated into the special jersey, fans can track the growth of their own tree via a treetracker app once it has been planted.
